Reasons for Introduction

Obsolete Reasons for Introduction

The School of Multimedia Systems currently has a compulsory full year (12 point) multimedia studio unit in the third year of all degree programs, each of which currently commences in semester 1. This proposal is intended to transform these full year studio units into a sequence of two single semester units to improve course flexibility. In addition it is the school's intention to have these two units as a common project structure across all degrees to facilitate (where the opportunity arises) cross-disciplinary team creation and access to a wider set of skills within a team. This proposal also rationalises SMS' studio/project offerings at the third levelThis sequence of units aims to build on the students' knowledge of basic concepts from previous years, by introducing them to more advanced tools for multimedia systems, and developing further their understanding of the multimedia development process and the tools and techniques used to manage and control it. The sequence content will be integrated closely with that of the other core units in the degree programs. This second unit concentrates on the systems development phase and the delivery of the final product/exhibition and thus completes the overall project development.23/07/2003 - MMS3408 will be introduced as core for the Bachelor of Multimedia Systems in 2004
