To advance from technical positions to management roles, students doing business and computing courses require competence in formal and informal, personal and professional communications. To participate successfully in the globalised economy, they need to develop sensitivities towards and understandings about cultural differences and cross-cultural communication.This subject introduces students to the oral, aural, written and non-verbal forms of communication used in the workplace. It provides opportunities for them to learn about and practice a range of business communication skills including CV and job application writing, interviews, oral and written business reports, meetings, negotiation, conflict resolution, cross-cultural interactions. It examines organisational structures and cultures, reporting procedures and business ethics.
