Students who have accummulated skills associated with object-oriented Java programming can further their knowledge by undertaking this unit which is an advanced Java unit. The unit deals with various aspects of enterprise computing on the web for the Masters by Coursework courses. Upon completion, the students will be prepared to meet the challenges of web-based multimedia and enterprise system development in the industry.

The unit has been offered as an advanced Java unit. The students have the option to further their Java programming skills by developing applications on the web using advanced Java technologies for the enterprise, including multimedia, security, J2EE, JSP, JDBC, servlets and EJBs. The skills acquired will be beneficial for Master by Coursework students to prepare them for the industry dealing with enterprise computing architectures.

The unit deals with advanced Java techonologies in the multimedia and enterprise application development context on the web. No other units offered at the postgraduate level cover this aspect of Java.

Techniques for developing multimedia web applications for the enterprise using the Java programming language. Advanced Java topics for the enterprise and the web such as applets, Enterprise JavaBeans (EJBs), JSPs, servlets and JDBC. Important WWW programming issues such as security and client-server communication.
