Reasons for Introduction

Obsolete Reasons for Introduction

The School of Business Systems (in consultation with the Gippsland School of Computing and IT) requests approval to change the teaching mode of this unit from on-campus learning only to on-campus (to be offered by SBS) and off-campus learning (to be offered by GSCIT). This is in order to bring the Master of Business Systems (OCL) course structure in line with the Master of Business Systems offered on the Clayton campus. BUS9520 will be a core unit in the Master of Business Systems (OCL). Also a minor amendment to prohibitions (add CSE5030, CSE9000, GCO4801, GCO8019).This unit is a recoding from BUS5520. BUS5520 is to be disestablished.According to the entry requirements into the Master of Business Systems Degree, students who enrol into this degree may not have previously done any programming units. They may not have any prior knowledge of computing concepts that are covered in a normal computing degree. Hence students may experience difficulties when attending other advanced computing related units during the latter course of their studies.BUS9520 is introduced in order to address this knowledge gap of the students who are enrolled in this degree. In particular it aims to provide fundamental computing knowledge to the students as well as ensuring that all students will have attained a similar standard of the knowledge of computing (and programming) at the end of this unit.
