Reasons for Introduction

Reasons for Change (15 Jul 2004, 10:54am)

Add semester 2 South Africa offering as requested by School of IT South Africa.

Amendment to assessment weightings as per FB 3/00 (from 50/50 assignments/exam to 40/60 assignments/exam): changes to assessment weightings were approved at FB 3/00 (Item A7.27), but the changes have never been reflected in the online proposal in the avatar.

SBS requests approval to change the lab session time from 2 hours to one hour after feedback from students and staff over the previous year has indicated that 2 hour labs are an ineffective use of teaching resources.

The School of Business Systems requests approval to add semester 2 to the offerings for BUS2040. This unit was originally offered in semester 2 and was changed to semester 1 in 2003-it will now be available in first and second semester.

The School of Business Systems requests approval to change the semester of offering for BUS2040 from semester 2 to semester 1. This is is to help balance the number of second year electives available between semesters. At present there is a shortage of first semester second year electives. The School also requests approval to increase the quota for the unit from 100 to 130 in order to partially address the unmet demand resulting from the current quota of 100 and as more laboratory space is available in semester 1 (due to the smaller number of units run this semester).
